On Friday, the Student Sustainability Association at Penn announced a collaboration with Tradepal, an online network that allows people to buy, sell, and trade with friends.
Tradepal recently partnered with the Clinton Global Initiative to commit to working with 100 universities. Penn is among the first five to announce its official collaboration, and continues the tradition as a leader in the Ivy League for sustainability efforts.
The collaboration with Tradepal will allow for an expansion of landfill diversion programs at Penn throughout the year and will supplement current efforts by facilities to reduce waste during move out. The partnership fits well with Penn's Climate Action Plan that pledges to reduce waste and CO2 emissions.
Penn aims to sign up 50 students by NSO and use the site to facilitate buying, selling, and trading during orientation. SSAP will place a special emphasis on helping new students acquire things they forgot or didn't realize they needed, and get rid of items that don't fit into the classic sized dorm room.
